Key Takeaways
- In summer, many families eat more fruit and not enough vegetables.
- Kids learn eating habits from their parents, including skipping veggies.
- A chocolate-flavored greens powder can be added to coffee or pancakes, or used as a dip for apple slices.
Summer usually means more fruit and fewer vegetables, for parents and kids alike. As Dr. Parsons points out, if you're not eating your veggies, you're teaching your kids not to eat them either. Her solution: a little covert operation.
Sneaking in More Greens
One way to get more greens into your family's diet is a greens powder like Power Greens, a green-based product packed with vegetables. It isn't as good as eating the vegetables themselves, Dr. Parsons notes, but it's a good way to sneak them in. The chocolate flavor helps mask the taste of the greens, which matters for anyone who's anti-green. It also comes in other flavors.
Easy Ways to Use It
- Stir it into your coffee for a little extra green.
- Mix it into your kids' pancakes.
- Slice an apple and dip it in the powder. Kids love dipping things, and it feels like a chocolate treat.

Hey everyone, it's summertime, and that means we're eating more fruit. A lot of you are eating a lot of fruit and not enough veggies, and that goes for your kids. So, parents, if you're not eating a lot of veggies, you're teaching your kids not to eat them. Now you have to shift into covert operations. A good way to sneak some veggies in (it's not as good as the actual vegetables, but it's a good way to sneak them in) is by using something like Power Greens. This happens to be a green-based product, so there are a lot of veggies and stuff in it, but it's flavored with chocolate. There are a lot of different uses for this. Some of you will be putting it in your coffee just to get a little more green. Some of you can put it in your kids' pancakes. One of my favorite things is to slice an apple. Alyssa's never tried this, so this is going to be her first. I dip it in the Power Greens. Go ahead, Alyssa. Kids like to dip things. They think that's fun. So picture them watching Moana, having an apple and dipping it into what they think is chocolate, which could be deemed naughty because it's chocolate, yet you're doing a covert operation, getting more greens in them. This is something that I love to eat because it tastes good. "Oh my gosh." And it is so healthy and yummy. So if you need to add in more greens, think about doing this, because it's tasty. It also comes in different flavors, like berry and kiwi-strawberry, but I think the chocolate masks the green flavor, and many of you are anti-green, so you're still able to get something nutritious in. So think about this: summertime dipping good times. Talk to you soon.
