Key Takeaways
- How you feel doesn't tell you what's happening inside your body.
- Some serious problems give no warning before they happen.
- Testing can reveal early clinical clues, including signs of autoimmune disease years before it develops.
Many people assume that if they feel fine, their health must be fine too. In this quick myth-versus-fact video, Dr. Parsons explains why that's a myth.
Feeling Fine Isn't the Same as Being Healthy
Dr. Parsons points out that for some people, the first sign of a heart attack is death, and they felt fine right up until it happened. How we feel doesn't tell us what's actually happening in the body. Sometimes there's pain or another early warning sign, but often there isn't.
Why Testing Matters
That's why Dr. Parsons recommends testing to look under the hood and make sure everything really is okay. She's learning to detect autoimmune disease years before it develops by spotting clinical clues in the immune system and body chemistry, often before a person feels anything at all.
Feeling good is great, but it's worth confirming with testing. The Natural Path Health Center in Fresno can help. Learn more about our functional nutrition and wellness services.

Myth or fact: if you feel good, you are good. Wow, that is a myth. If you think about it, for some people, the first sign of a heart attack is death, and they felt fine before it happened. We cannot rely on our feelings. Feelings are emotions; they do not tell us what's happening in our body. Now, sometimes we might feel pain. Sometimes there might be early indicators. But that's why we do testing, to look under the hood and make sure everything on the back end really is okay. For example, I am learning how to detect autoimmune disease years and years before it actually manifests. You're not necessarily feeling anything, but the immune system and your body chemistry are giving me clinical clues. So just because you're feeling good... I'm happy you are.
