What Happens When We Mess with Mother Nature

Have you ever wondered why things were created a specific way? Why were certain systems put in place? Whatever gave us (humans) the idea that we could literally create (via force) something that would be better/healthier that its original design? I find myself asking this question, the more I research the topic of GMO’s. Yes, I am talking about genetically modified foods.  When it comes to the science of how this modification is done, I am truly baffled about it. Were you aware that the “genetic modification” is random? And here in lies part of the problem. If science were able to be EXACT about the placement of the gene, then I could see consistency in being able to properly study the outcomes of these experiments. But this is not the case. The genetic placement is truly random. It’s kind of similar to hoping to be a sharp shooter at a target but using a pellet gun and still expecting a clean single shot in the bull’s eye.  It was only a few years ago that scientists had a section of human DNA that they referred to as “junk” DNA because they didn’t know what it’s purpose or functions were. So, it was named “junk”. As we progress with improved scientific techniques, we are discovering that this “junk” DNA serves a purpose, we just were not asking the correct questions, nor had the technology to dig deeper.  Did you know that the FIRST long term study was just released which looked at the LONG TERM effects of using GMO’s? Guess what? Not good! By the time you read this article I will already be in Los Angeles, listening to the leaders in the GMO industry discuss the latest findings. You can be sure that I will pass this latest information on to you. In the meantime I think that it gives a clear picture of what we are facing as a WORLD, if we don’t start making better decisions about this very scary topic!  Here’s to being GMO free!
