Good Gut Health: Yeastie Beasties and Treatsies

Do you have "bugs in the gut?" You should! Everyone has them, but the right kind are important for good gut health.

So there are the "good guys" and all of the rest of the guys when it comes to bug balance in the intestines. And for us female folk, we often have an imbalance in our most private of areas: the vajayjay (the vagina).

One category of nasty bugs is that of yeast, aka candida. This microscopic critter is one that we all have inside us. Yes, it is totally normal in certain amounts.

But this little "yeastie beastie" is sneaky.

It hangs out.

Waiting.

Watching.

Hoping that you will do something to shift the balance of power in the body, so they can make more yeastie beastie babies and increase your detoxification burden.

Yes, they can make an "endotoxin" that makes your detox factory work harder!

And if that was not enough, you may also feel more gas, bloating, gurgles, urges to binge, or downright sugar cravings.

Now it is not fair, in my mind, that such a small little thing can in some cases ruin your life. It drains away your energy and can cause weight gain. When this happens, well my friends, they must die!

We have to stop feeding them and support good gut health. Now, that is easier said than done. This means no fruit, grains, sugar or starchy veggies.

Wait ... did I say SUGAR? Yes, especially during this time of year, I see a lot of patients who are dealing with this because of all the chocolates, treats and sweets they got in February, then we head into March and celebrate St. Patrick's day with beer, then we head into Easter (admit it, you get candy for yourself!) and it's been months of candy indulgence.

Three Ways to Improve Your Gut Health

First, reduce your consumption of fruit, grains, sugar and starches. Wait, what's left that you can eat? There is still plenty of good food! Focus on satisfying, high quality foods and stay away from anything that comes out of a bag, box or can. If you're an emotional eater, remember, sugar is a comfort food....for you and your yeastie beasties!

The big challenge is finding those satisfying yummy treats–especially chocolate treats–that don't feed yeastie beasties. That's why I'm so excited about a new product I discovered just a few weeks ago. Individually wrapped chocolates with a new, not artificial sweetener, plus incredible super nutrients and supplements such as Reishi mushroom extract, melatonin and GABA. You can buy them online here but you get a discounted price from me. Stop by our office during business hours or call to make an appointment for a treatment (and a treat) at (559) 447-1404 (you can click right on the number to dial if you're reading on mobile).

Second, some people (like me) may need to work on heavy metal removal. Having a heavy metal overload encourages the critters to come back after you worked so hard to regain control and reestablish a healthy normal balance in the gut and vajayjay.

Third, kill off those bad bugs! Thorne® creates some of the purest supplements in the world including a "yeastie beastie bug killer!" But not long ago they had to find another source of olive oil. After months and months of waiting, we now have our wonderful yeastie beastie bug killing product back: Formula SF722.

What makes this such an amazing yeastie beastie killer is the undecenoic acid which is the primary ingredient. Studies indicate that it is the most potent of the fatty acids which can be used for good old fashioned bug killing. The other ingredients are pesticide free extra virgin olive oil, gelatin from a bovine source (it used to be from tilapia) and vegetable glycerin.

I am so excited to have my bug killing friend back. You can order your supply directly from Thorne® but you must use my Doctors Code HCP1006020. You can call Thorne Research Customer Service at (800) 228-1966 or go online to the patient express website at https://www.thorne.com/signup/customer

Again, you must give them my Doctors Code HCP1006020 (you'll enter it on the second page of signing up).

Good gut health takes some detective work (I've been called "The Holistic Detective!) and some lifestyle adjustments. These three strategies and products can make it much easier and help you reduce the impact of these "yeastie beasties" on your gut and your life.
